Brass Masterclass – Sunday 17 March

Surrey Arts are hosting a Brass Masterclass for Trombone and Trumpet  players on Sunday 17 March. This fantastic morning will allow advanced young brass players to present solo works in progress as well as finely prepared repertoire to our special guests, Tom Rainer and Rupert Whitehead.

Each participant will learn from listening to others perform as well as receiving individual guidance from our visiting experts.
We are very fortunate to be joined for this event by Tom Rainer (The Brass Academy) and Rupert Whitehead (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).

Expert trumpet tuition will be provided by Tom Rainer, who has performed on film soundtracks including Lord of the Rings. He is the musical director of The Brass academy and also head of performing arts at the Aldro School, Surrey. Rupert Whitehead has recently been appointed as a member of the RPO and has a busy schedule as a teacher alongside his playing career.

Please note this masterclass day is aimed at trumpet and trombone players of grade 5 onwards in standard. However, players of all other brass instruments will be welcome provided there is space. Non surrey arts student and pupils are very welcome to attend and participate in this event too.
