Surrey Arts invest in new piano lab

One of the most popular instruments to learn is the piano and as individual lessons are in high demand we are extending our provision for piano tuition by investing in a new piano lab at Woking Youth Arts Centre. Working with Casio, we have purchased 8 new Casio GP 400 upright pianos to develop group lessons. The ‘piano lab’ will give more opportunities to learn the piano as well as reducing the cost for tuition.
Our Piano Lead, Anna Shears, says ‘The Casio 400 is great. The touch and tone is remarkably close to that of an acoustic piano.’
The Casio GP 400 is well regarded in the music industry due to its likeness to a big acoustic grand piano. Additionally its compact size and the ability to use headphones to split the piano into two halves gives students a fantastic learning experience.
Dan Brown, Business Development Officer, said ‘We identified there was an opportunity to increase the provision for piano tuition and group teaching has already been successful with our Saturday morning guitar workshops.’
Surrey Arts offer piano lessons for adults and children, so if you are interested or would like further information contact Surrey Arts surreyartsmusic@surreycc.gov.uk
