Brass Holiday Activities

For 2020 we have a filled summer programme for brass activities. A mix of come and see demos as well as masterclass sessions for those already playing a brass instrument.

Brass Demonstration

A fun introduction in the style of an assembly show and tell.

Tuning up brass party

This is for all beginner pupils who had lessons on a brass instrument at school from September to March. This is a chance to get together again to make some music, have some fun and improve your brass skills! You are welcome to join us if you are a beginner on a brass instrument and had individual lessons, group lessons or whole class lessons this year. Learning a few tunes as the week progresses.

Students perform a solo piece and receive coaching and feedback from the tutor, Edward Maxwell, as well as from fellow young musicians taking part. Further Study Talk

Tutors and students discuss musical opportunities beyond school (University, Music College, Summer and Easter courses for over 18s). Experiences of Junior Music Colleges, University days/Music College shared. Also discuss Aldeburgh Young Musician opportunities and how to get involved with music after sixth form.

Symphony Play Along

Tutor lead short brass focused discussion and look at elements of a A LONDON SYMPHONY by Surrey Composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Recording and pdf parts to be sent out at the start of August. Participants press play at the same time and play along (muted microphones) in a shared musical experience. Trombones will work as tenor clef and there is loads to play in this piece which influenced the Star Wars soundtrack.
