Jingle Bugs

Jingle Bugs is a fun, friendly guitar-led series of classes for babies and children (aged from 3 months to 5 years) run by Surrey Arts. Classes feature an exciting range of instruments, props and resources which develop children’s natural love of music and enhance literacy, speech, numeracy, physical and social development, confidence and independence

Every fortnight there is a new theme, related to your child’s world. The content of the class is tailored to your child’s age:

  • the baby class has many sensory aids (visual and touch, knee bounce songs and basic signing
  • the toddlers and preschool class has additional movement songs, story telling and games which encourage children to be more independent and world aware

Teacher and instruments

Jingle Bugs is led by Nina, a singer and Early Years trained teacher, and is almost entirely guitar-led. The guitar is the perfect instrument for this setting because it accompanies without overpowering, keeping the focus on the voice and melody. The guitar can be used for dramatic effect with dynamic and rhythmic changes.

The children can experience all kinds of music, from Beethoven to Bowie, from Bach to Bjork!
