Parents

Would you like to introduce your child to the thrill of learning and making music?

Through the hub, there are many opportunities for young people to play, learn and perform across a range of types of music.

Music lessons in schools

Our expert tutors help 15,000 young people in Surrey to learn to sing and play all sorts of different musical instruments by visiting schools to give one-to-one or small group instrumental lessons. Your child can too!

We’re going to be developing the range of instruments on offer too, over time. Contact your school to find out what’s on offer, or contact us if you have any further queries or feedback.

Groups and ensembles

Our music groups offer young people a chance to rehearse and perform with others, make new friends and improve their playing. There are too many to list here but rest assured, there’s sure to be one near you. Current groups include:

  • Area ensembles – various levels: Youth Orchestras, Brass groups, Concert Bands and Training Bands, String and Wind Groups
  • Recorder, Clarinet, Flute and Saxophone Groups, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Groups, Samba band, Singing groups
  • Special Needs Children’s choir
  • County ensembles – Grade 6+ instrumentalists: Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Brass Ensemble

Find out more on the groups and ensembles pages. If your child already plays to an advanced level, you can also find out about our county music groups.
