Surrey Music Hub Conference Useful Information

The Surrey University Site   

The map of the Stag Hill Campus highlights places you may find useful during your visit. Signage can be found around campus and any of staff members will be happy to direct you if you are a little lost. There is a convenience store located next to the library. 

The Conference Venue

The conference will take place in the Austin Pearce Lecture Theatres which can be found on the ground floor of the Austin Pearce Building Upon entering the building from the front, turn left through the double doors and the lecture theatres are numbers on the walls.  Some sessions are taking place  in the AC (Lewis Caroll) Building on the 3rd floor.   Youth Delegate workshops will take place in the PATS building.  

Male, female and accessible bathrooms can be found on the ground floor in the Austin Pearce Building. The nearest gender-neutral bathrooms are in Senate House.

Workshop Locations 

Most session take place in the Austin Pearce Building in Rooms 1, 2 and 3/4, Some sessions are taking place in ROOM AP 28,  on the 2nd floor of the Austin Pearce Building.   Session 3d (University Of Surrey: Simple & Effective Recording Techniques for the Classroom) is taking place in Teaching Block, Room 18.   For this session please meet the registration desk and we will direct you to session location, which is a short walk away.

Parking is subject to availability and all vehicles and their contents are left at the owners’ risk, the University of Surrey takes no responsibility for any loss or damage.  

IMPORTANT: after registering you will receive a confirmation email stating you can park in ‘All car parks’ however you should only park in the areas marked ‘Permit holders only’, and NOT in the ‘Pay and Display’ or ‘ 2-hour short stay’ areas. 

Registration for delegates is in the Austin Pearce Building.  Upon entering the building from the front, turn left through the double doors and the Austin Pearce Lecture Theatres can be found on the ground floor. 

Youth Delegate workshops will take place in the Performing Arts Technology Studio. 

Delegate Workshop Carousel Selection is required ahead of the Conference.  Please can each delegate complete this form to indicate which carousels you are planning to attend

Parking

Parking is available in the main car park only.  Please ensure you use the correct car park.     Registration is required via the link provided here: https://permitmanagement.co.uk/events/uosvisitorparking/R3WOPS5

All vehicles and their contents are left at the owners’ risk, the University of Surrey takes no responsibility for any loss or damage.

Please make sure not to park in the pay and display car park as this is managed under separate guidelines.

Wi-Fi 

  • Connect to the GUEST_WIFI network
  • A display screen will appear – Click on visitor
  • When prompted, enter your name and email address
  • Tick the I accept the terms of use box
  • Click register

You will see confirmation of your request and login credentials (this will also be emailed Click on log in to access the GUEST_WIFI service You will see a screen confirming you are connected to the GUEST_WIFI service

Security 

The Security Office is open 24 hours a day and can be reached in an emergency on 3333 from any internal telephone or 0800 525790 from a mobile.

For non emergency calls to Security please call extension 2002 from an internal phone or 01483 682002 from a mobile.

Fire Evacuation Information

  • On Discovering a Fire:
    • Immediately operate the nearest fire alarm call point.
    • Fight the fire (but only if safe to do so).
    • Evacuate the building closing all doors behind you.
    • Proceed to the assembly point for your building
      • Austin Pearce Building: The Piazza area in front of the building
      • Performing Arts and Teaching Block – Grass Area outside the Library 
    • Dial 3333 on an internal telephone or 0800 525790 on an outside line to give details of the incident to security.
  • On Hearing the Fire Alarm Sound
    • Evacuate the building closing all doors behind you.
    • Follow the directions of the fire wardens and proceed to the assembly point. Do not re-enter the building until instructed to do so by the incident controller.
